We have been saying for a while that we are going to have an open house and party and it seems like the time is NOW. I know it's a little short notice, but if we wait any longer we won't be able to have too much fun or get anything done outside. AND people hopefully won't be afraid to camp! Isn't it time you did something spontaneous and came out to the country where the living is easy (hard work aside) and the air smells sweet (no hog barns in our neighborhood). It should be a lovely weekend. There's lots to see and do here on the farm and if everything goes well we'll be bonfiring wood we stacked, drinking hot apple cider we made and eating chickens we killed - I mean harvested.
Here are the details:
WHEN: October 10-11 - stay for monday if you have it off!
WHERE: RidgeRunner Farm -our home
WHO: Whoever wants to join us! Bring your friends and family, well behaved dogs welcome! ("Shiloh - make good choices!" There are chickens free in the yard and horses and cows nearby. ALL of the dogs we have had here so far have been great and learned a lot about animals on the farm. We want you to bring them if you want to take on what that means...)
WHY: A Harvest celebration, time to get together and get things done, and drink some beer, or hot cider with whiskey, or just cider. We are hoping people will be interested in doing things like: moving wood around, picking apples, gathering black walnuts, sweeping the barn... ya know, farm stuff!
What to Bring: We hope everyone will bring a sturdy pair of shoes whether you want to work or not, it's a farm - things are on the ground you might not want to step on (chicken poop for one). If you want to do a little work, please bring a pair of gloves and a hammer if ya got one! Feel free to bring something yummy to eat, we'll have some stuff, but more is always good! If enough people tell us they are coming, we'll get a keg - if not then just a lot of beer, and some whiskey for the hot apple cider...
Bring a tent (there are lots of great camping spots) and warm gear, it'll be cold at night and beautiful during the day - it's Fall!
Let us know if you are thinking about coming so we have provisions for ALL!
We look forward to seeing you!

I really want to come
I feel so far away (and would love to taste your apple cider, unpasteurized I'm sure)! Of course, anytime you two want to come to the big city, I have a little loft in my tiny Brooklyn railroad apartment!
i love the photo!! holy moly! we may or may not come down...but we'll let you know as soon as we can,
Jane -- We? We? Do you have a we that you need to tell us about?
We will be there in spirit. Love you and miss you.
Can you take another picture from this vantage point, and include the cows? (I'm assuming you were standing newar your mailbox or driveway.) I love that vista! Especially after just seeing it again.
