It was like my birthday all over again this weekend.
So many fun things happened, and then today it's been miserably hot and muggy.
In preparation David and I took a journey -
which is what you call it when there is a longish car ride with a lil dude involved -
to La Crosse to gather some supplies to make our lives better for this HUGE transition.
We got to go to Target!
Always a treat, even though I think this Target is a little lacking...
At Target the only thing I bought was THIS glorious thing with money from my birthday.
It's an enamel covered cast iron dutch oven from Lodge.
It's everything I wanted it to be.
Now I just have to find a place for it.
In it's inaugural experience I made ShakShuka ala Elizabeth...
Which is taken from a recipe I got from our girl Deb at smittenkitchen.
I don't know her or anything, but I imagine that I do
because I seem to spend a lot of time with her...
It was a great dish and much beloved by Aaron and I.
It will be made again.
the birds are multiplying,
the hoof trimming portion of the (self-run) shepherd training course!
the sheep were shorn and we brought the fiber to a REALLY local mill be washed.
The mill is literally just down the road!
We'll let you know how it works out!
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers this week while I
bring David to work and expect him to adjust to my schedule!!!

yum! I've done this with a salsa type sauce and eggs. yum!
And the eggs you've sent are so yummy.
Last year after we got the chickens Claire decided she didn't like eggs. I haven't made too big of a deal of it. But now, with the eggs from you, she has decided a couple of times that she wants an egg for breakfast and has had much joy picking out exactly which one she wants. This is a victory in my mind.
There is a lot going on there! Everyone looks great! I can't wait to see your fiber, feel free to bring some with you to card next time you visit.
Good luck at work!
Love your blog darlin'! Your farm and family are beautiful....good luck and best wishes as you and David start a new journey at work.
He'll do great, and so will you!
XOXO The Schoeller Crew
looks good - how tomato-ey is it?
So much beautiful stuff growing! Especially the kiddo... that last David pic is absolutely positively adorable... sooooo much character in that little guy!
I love everything in this post Elizabeth. I am thinking of you and the work adjustment this week. Can't go wrong with egg dishes. One of my fave dishes at the Barbary Fig is Shekshouka, egg dish but no tomato and based on lamb sausage. The last pic of David looks like a doll, he is one of the cutest baby boys I know!! Much love, lindsay
