SO - excitement abounds here on Sugar Grove Road! The camera, which earlier today would not click, now does so I have LOTS of fun things to share!!!
It's hard to pick what to share first, so I'll go with the *cutest* - Baby Chicks!!!
They come in a box, the postal lady calls and you can hear them in the background...
then you take them home and worry about them a lot. It's getting better...
they are cute. we could only get males at this time, but that's ok. We'll find a few layers elsewhere. We decided that the Cornish Rocks we got last year were too hybrided out... they died of heart attacks and just sat around and ate. This is no good, we need grass eaters with the price of gas and grain... We think this is the best time of year to get meat birds because you don't have to spend as much on electricity keeping them warm as chicks, and the processing (that's code for Killin') doesn't happen in the hot and horrible days of late July and August. We'll be killin' in nice and cool September! It'll be a party for sure! Let me know if you are interested!
