our new SLED!

We've had a pretty full weekend here in Readstown...

LAST weekend we went skiing and had a funny set up.

Mostly because Papa had a LOT of work to do!

This weekend was different, but Papa still did most of the work,

he made us a SLED!

What a guy.

It started coming together on Friday...

which was the same night we bottled beer!

We headed out yesterday afternoon to test out the sled and we loved it.

It's so nice to have something that BOTH kids can ride in and that handles the snow so well.

Aaron put the thing together SO quickly and without a "plan".

I was very impressed.

Now I have a lot of other ideas of things for him to put together!

I am most impressed by this project because "nothing was purchased specifically for this project"! I think it's great that he can find stuff around that he can make things happen with. What a true scavenger, I know my dad would be proud.

We both got to have a chance with the harness.

I fully admit that I let Aaron do the big hills,

but I hope to make a better "harness system" so that I can take the big ones too...

Here's the place we'd REALLY like to live...

at least the one that's in our neighborhood.

David was such a good and supportive brother the whole time!

He held Ada up all the way...

I think we are pretty happy with the sled!

it seems like winter!

We built a snow man...

We went skiing...

we're pretty happy about it.

especially once we kick this cold.

then we'll be REALLY happy about it.

if there's any snow left!

Our Dining Room.

Even though the floor is cold, I am SO glad that Aaron took up the carpet.

It has the best light on the house even though it is North Facing.

It's the most indirect of lighting ever.

So it can be hard to take pictures, but I do anyway!

you know what's funny though? I really don't like Paper Whites.

These came WAY faster than I thought they would and they STINK!

fun for the kid though I guess.

really! snow? I wondered if it would ever come.

also I wonder if it will stay.

mostly I wonder if I can find my ski boots!

oh my... it's been a while!

Apparently I've done one or two of these posts before!

And If sweet Ada Ruth weren't sleeping fitfully next to me I might type up a whole long list of why I haven't been here and how sorry I am about it.

For now some recent pictures of the family!

Also to say that the past three months have been amazing and wonderful, sad and hard, blissful and dreamy! It's just life - but it means SO MUCH.

I need to start taking more pictures!

there isn't even one good one of Ada Ruth to post.

Part of it might be that big brother thinks that when

the camera comes out HE should be taking pictures,

so it's hard for me to even pull it out these days...

I'll be better... before all the good light is gone...

APPLE FEST and the truth about Carneys

We had a pretty awesome Sunday.

Aaron woke up extra early to go fishing on the last day of the season

with our friends Dan and Liz.

David and Ada and I stayed home, ate pancakes

and then decided to head off to Apple Fest in Gays Mills.

It's pretty much a reason to get kids to want to go on rides and spend lots of money on junky food and stuff you don't really need.

It was great.

The minute we got out of the car David said "FUN!" in the cutest voice ever...

and we went and LOOKED at the rides...

which I thought I couldn't bring him on because he was too short...

Well... remember that thing about Carney's: they are usually pretty looped.

and by looped I mean WASTED.

Let's be honest. Carney's are cool, but don't trust them with your kids and any money you give them WILL be spent on drugs and booze.

Which is why they get paid in TICKETS. Not in cash.

anyway. That lady had NO IDEA that David isn't 36 inches tall

and I knew he would be fine in those little cars... So I let him go on a ride.

It was AWESOME!

I'm just really glad that he didn't figure out how to ring the bell like that other kid did.

it was annoying. instead, he was just really flippin cute.

So on a whim I called Aaron to see if they were done for the day...

he wasn't sure how it would all go... and then a half hour later... THERE HE WAS!

We all got weird food together and David and Aaron got to go on more RIDES!

what a good time. I love Sundays.
